The Clay County Heritage Center opened in July 2012. The Heritage Center offers handicap accessibility, three exhibit galleries, the Rotary Research Room, the Archive Library and the Bob Keir Meeting Room.
Parker Historical Society of Clay County became so successful at collecting local Clay County history that room to store and exhibit artifacts was becoming limited at the Parker Museum and the Duroe Building on Third Street.
In October 2006, the Historical Society received a challenge from the Dvergsten Charitable Foundation to submit an out-of-the-box project that would make Spencer proud. The Board of Directors embraced the challenge, were awarded funds from the foundation and moved forward developing a plan that ultimately became the Clay County Heritage Center.
